Homemade Remedies to Make Hair Thick

Homemade Remedies to Make Hair Thick~

Homemade hair-thickeningremedies work either by temporarily adding volume to each shaft of hair or by creating a healthy scalp environment where more hair can grow. In some cases, results are immediate

ly visible, but they are generally short-lived. For the best results, use a homemade hair-thickeningremedy on a regular basis.

Egg
After shampooing, massage an egg into your hair and let it sit for about 5 minutes. The non-hydrolyzed protein in an egg mimics the hydrolyzed proteins in hair-thickeningshampoos, according to Dr. Harry Roth, a clinical professor of dermatology at the University of California.

Vinegar
Massage a mixture of 1 Tbsp. white or apple cider vinegar and 1 pint of water into your hair. The solution temporarily changes the chemical balance of your hair and make it appear thicker and shinier.

Oil Massage
Scalp massages with olive oil, lavender oil and jojoba oil are thought to help rid the scalp of debris and excess sebum and dirt, resulting on cleaner, thicker hair and healthy follicles. Massaging the scalp also increases blood flow to the scalp, which may encourage healthier, thicker hair growth. Rub a few drops of oil into the scalp before bedtime and leave it on overnight. Wash with a mild shampoo in the morning and style as usual.

Aloe Vera
Using a tablespoon or so of fresh aloe vera gel squeezed directly from the leaves, either alone or with a mixture of brandy and raw egg, may make your hair appear thicker. Apply the gel or mixture once every two weeks and shampoo as usual.

Flax Seed
A leave-on conditioner made from flaxseeds and water may temporarily thicken hair. Soak a handful of flax seeds in water for five days and apply the water directly to your scalp with a cotton ball before styling. —

Doctor's Opinion

AWESOME!!
MUST READ & SHARE!!

A panel of doctors was asked for their
opinions concerning a proposal to
build a new wing to their hospital.
This was what they said:

*The Allergists voted to scratch it.

*The Dermatologists preferred no rash
moves.

*The Psychiatrists thought it was
madness.

*The Radiologists could see right
through it.

*The Gastro-enterologists had a gut
feeling about it.

*The Neurologists thought the
administration had a lot of nerve.

*The Obstetricians stated they were
labouring under a misconception.

*The Ophthalmologists considered the
idea short-sighted.

*The Pathologists yelled, "Over my
dead body."

*The Paediatricians said, "Grow up!"

*The Plastic Surgeon said, 'This puts a
whole new face on the matter.'

*The Podiatrists thought it was a step
forward.

*The Urologists felt the scheme
wouldn't hold water.

*The Surgeons decided to wash their
hands of the whole thing.

*The Anaesthesiologists thought the
whole idea was a gas.

*The Cardiologists didn't have the
heart to say no.

Do You Know About Small Vessel Stroke?

Small-Vessel Stroke The term lacunar infarction refers to infarction
following atherothrombotic or lipohyalinotic occlusion of a small artery(
30 to 300 _m) in the brain. The term small-vessel stroke denotes
occlusion of such a small penetrating arteryand is now the preferred
term. Small-vessel strokes account for _20% of all strokes.

PATHOPHYSIOLOGY The MCA stem, the arteries comprising the circle of
Willis (A1 segment, anterior and posterior communicating arteries,
and P1 segment), and the basilar and vertebral arteries all give rise to
30- to 300-_m branches that penetrate the deep grayand white matter
of the cerebrum or brainstem (Fig. 349-3). Each of these small
branches can occlude either byatherothrombotic disease at its origin
or bythe development of lipohyalinotic thickening.

Thrombosis of
these vessels causes small infarcts that are referred to as lacunes (Latin
for “lake” of fluid noted at autopsy). They range in size from 3 mm
to 2 cm. Hypertension and age are the principal risk factors.

CLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS The most common lacunar syndromes are the
following: (1) Pure motor hemiparesis from an infarct in the posterior
limb of the internal capsule or basis pontis; the face, arm, and leg are
almost always involved; (2) pure sensory stroke from an infarct in the
ventrolateral thalamus; (3) ataxic hemiparesis from an infarct in the
base of the pons; (4) dysarthria and a clumsy hand or arm due to
infarction in the base of the pons or in the genu of the internal capsule;
and (5) pure motor hemiparesis with “motor (Broca’s) aphasia” due
to thrombotic occlusion of a lenticulostriate branch supplying the genu
and anterior limb of the internal capsule and adjacent white matter of
the corona radiata.
Transient symptoms (small vessel TIAs) may herald a small-vessel
infarct; theymay occur several times a day and last only a few minutes.
Recoveryfrom a small-vessel stroke often begins within hours or days,
and over weeks or months maybe nearly complete; in some cases,
however, there is severe permanent disability. Often, institution of
combined antithrombotic treatments does not prevent eventual stroke
in “stuttering lacunes.”

A large-vessel source (either thrombosis or embolism) maymanifest
initiallyas a lacunar syndrome with small-vessel infarction. Therefore,
the search for embolic sources (carotid and heart) should not be
completelyabandoned in the evaluation of these patients. Secondary
prevention of lacunar stroke involves risk factor modification, specificallyreduction
in blood pressure (see “Primary and Secondary Prevention,”
below).

Ankylosing Spondylitis

Info:Ankylosing spondylitis

Ankylosing spondylitis is a form of joint inflammation (arthritis) that is long-lasting (chronic) and most often affects the spine. Ankylosing spondylitis commonly causes pain and stiffness, with swelling and limited motion in the low back, middle back, neck, hips, chest wall, and heels. Over time, joints in the spine can fuse together and cause a fixed, bent-forward posture.
In early ankylosing spondylitis, there is inflammation of the joints and

of the ligaments where they attach near the joints.

In advanced ankylosing spondylitis, there is:
Fusion of joints in the spine.
Flattening of the normal curve in the low back.
Often a flattening of the normal curve of the neck, an increase in the forward curve of the upper back, and bent posture at the hips.

Other joints can become painful and stiff, including those in the shoulders, wrists, hands, knees, ankles, and feet.
Although it is unusual, ankylosing spondylitis can also cause changes such as thickening of the major artery (aorta) and the valve in the heart called the aortic valve. Scarring of the lungs also happens in rare cases. The kidneys and the digestive tract can also be affected.

Tips to care your Feet

Your feet are more important than you think. They contain roughly one-fourth of all the bones in your body
— and they take quite a beating as they support you and help you stay active. In fact, many people believe that the foot represents your overall health. A simple foot pain can signal numerous health conditions, some serious and others caused by wear and tear.
lot is riding on your feet, so take care of them. Just imagine if they got injured and became too sore for you to walk! A little foot love every day can go a long way. And daily foot care is simple with our foolproof tips. Here’s how to care for your feet every day.
1- Keep them clean:
Wash and dry feet in the tub or shower. Clean between your toes. Use an antibacterial soap and a nail brush to scrub away dirt and grime.

2- Don’t drip-dry:
Dry feet thoroughly and carefully with a clean towel. This will help prevent athlete’s foot, a fungus that causes itchy, red, flaking skin between and around the toes.
3- Slough off the dead skin:
Smooth rough soles and the edges of your feet every day with a pumice stone. This removes the dead skin on your feet and helps prevent the skin from splitting, infection, and the buildup of calluses.
4- Moisturize your feet every day with an unscented lotion:
The skin on your feet is not naturally moist and needs the extra nutrients from a good quality lotion.
5- Give ’em a rubdown:
Massage your feet every day as you moisturize to soothe sore, aching muscles and improve blood flow. Enjoy fragrant aromatherapy oils such as peppermint or chamomile.
6- Go round and round:
Stretch your feet every morning by rotating your ankles in a circular motion, pointing and flexing your toes, and standing on your tiptoes to strengthen bones, tendons, and muscles.
7- Soak it up:
Immerse your feet in a quick daily footbath. Fill with marbles and move feet gently on top of the marbles to stimulate the nerve endings.
8- Give yourself a pedicure:
File your toenails so they’re smooth. File them straight across using an emery board, not a metal file. Avoid filing them too short or pulling on loose edges. Match the shape of your nail to the shape of your toe. This helps avoid splitting, ingrown toenails, fungus, and soreness. Push back the cuticles with a clean orangewood stick, and trim the excess if necessary.
9- Wear the right shoes:
Wear comfortable shoes every day. Painful feet mean problem feet. Wear the right shoes for the right climate. Protect your feet in the rain and snow with proper waterproof footwear. If you walk or run for exercise, invest in top quality sneakers. In the summer, wear sandals so your feet can breathe. And don’t walk barefoot outside, as this can cause injury to your feet.
10- Walk it off:
Walking stimulates the circulation to your feet and keeps them healthy and strong.
11- Use good sock sense:
Avoid nylon socks and pantyhose and opt for more breathable cotton socks instead, if possible.
12- Keep an eye out:
Examine feet for sores, infections, rashes, swelling, blemishes, or corns, and treat them promptly.
It only takes a little time each day to treat your feet well, and these tips can keep them healthy and beautiful all year long.

Causes of Back Pain

Back pain is not a disease but is a symptom for underlying disease.  Pain arising from other organs may be felt in the back. This is called referred pain.
Many intra-abdominal disorders -- such as appendicitis, aneurysms, kidney diseases, bladder infections, pelvic infections, and ovarian disorders, among others -- can cause pain referred to the back.  Nerve root syndromes are those that produce symptoms of nerve impingement (a nerve is touched), often due to a herniation (or bulging) of the disc between the lower back bones.
Sciatica is an example of nerve root impingement. Impingement pain tends to be sharp, in one spot, and associated with numbness in the area of the leg that the affected nerve supplies.
Herniated discs are produced as the spinal discs degenerate or grow thinner.

The jellylike central portion of the disc bulges out of the central cavity and pushes against a nerve root. Intervertebral discs begin to degenerate by the third decade of life. Herniated discs are found in a third of adults older than 20. Only 3% of these, however, produce symptoms of nerve impingement. Spinal stenosis occurs as intervertebral discs lose moisture and volume with age, which decreases the disc spaces. Even minor trauma under these circumstances can cause inflammation and nerve root impingement, which can produce classic sciatica without disc rupture. Spinal degeneration is caused by alterations in the disc that progress to degeneration. This, coupled with disease in joints of the low back, causes spinal canal narrowing. These changes in the disc and the joints produce symptoms and can be seen on an x-ray. A person with spinal degeneration may have morning stiffness or pain while standing for a long time or walking even short distances.
Cauda equina syndrome is a medical emergency. Disc material expands into the spinal canal, which compresses the nerves. A person would experience pain, possible loss of sensation, and bowel or bladder dysfunction. This could include inability to control urination causing incontinence, or the inability to begin urination.
Musculoskeletal pain syndromes that produce low back pain include myofascial pain syndromes and fibromyalgia. Myofascial pain is characterized by pain and tenderness over localized areas (trigger points), loss of range of motion in the involved muscle groups, and pain radiating in a characteristic distribution but restricted to a peripheral nerve. Relief of pain is often reported when the involved muscle group is stretched. Fibromyalgia results in pain and tenderness on 11 of 18 trigger points when touched, one of which is the low back area, as classified by the American College of Rheumatology. Generalized stiffness, fatigue, and muscle ache are reported. Other skeletal causes of low back pain include osteomyelitis or sacroiliitis (infections of the bones of the spine). This pain is usually worse at night and is worse when sitting or standing for a long time.
Tumors, possibly cancerous, can be a source of skeletal pain.

Small Bowel Cancers

Types of small bowel cancer:
There are five main types of small bowel cancer:
Adenocarcinoma. Adenocarcinoma is the most common type of small bowel cancer, usually occurring in the duodenum or jejunum. Adenocarcinoma begins in the gland cells of the small bowel.
Sarcoma. Small bowel sarcoma is generally a leiomyosarcoma (a tumor that arises in the muscle tissue that makes up part of the intestine) and most often occurs in the ileum.
Gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). GIST is an uncommon tumor that is believed to start in cells
found in the walls of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, called interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC).

GIST belongs to a group of cancers called soft tissue sarcomas.
Carcinoid tumor. Carcinoid tumors are classified as neuroendocrine tumors (tumors that originate in the hormone-producing cells of various organs) and generally occur in the ileum.
Lymphoma. Lymphoma is a cancer of the lymph system, which is part of the body’s immune system. Lymphoma that occurs in the small bowel usually occurs in the jejunum or ileum and is most commonly non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Skin care during winter

Does your skin feel warm though winter has arrived?

Winter climate is likely to make your skin dry... This winter take care of your skin and body through few health tips:

Use a plain moisturizer for skin and Vaseline for lips rather than too fancy creams/moisturizer. Avoid harsh peels, facemasks and alcohol based toners, instead use mild cleansing milk. If you generally have a dry skin, then avoid washing your face too frequently.

Dry winter tends to increase dandruff on scalp. You can apply curd on your scalp an hour before washing your hair. Avoid applying curd during the early mornings and late nights as you may catch a cold.

Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables and sprouts. They taste really ‘yumm’ during winter...

You may not feel thirsty frequently, so keep drinking water on frequent intervals to keep your body hydrated.

What's a good way to gain weight if you're underweight?

If you're underweight, trying to gain weight can be as hard as trying to lose weight when you're overweight. Although being lean can often be healthy, being underweight can be a concern if it's the result of poor nutrition or a medical condition, or if you're pregnant or have other health concerns. So, if you're underweight, see your doctor or dietitian for an evaluation. Together, you can plan how to meet your goal weight.
Here are some healthy ways to gain weight when you're underweight:
Eat more frequently. When you're underweight, you may feel full faster. Eat five to six smaller meals during the day rather than two or three large meals.

Choose nutrient-rich foods. As part of an overall healthy diet, choose whole-grain breads, pastas and cereals; fruits and vegetables; low-fat dairy products; lean protein sources; and nuts and seeds.
Try smoothies and shakes. Don't fill up on diet soda, coffee and other drinks with few calories and little nutritional value. Instead, drink smoothies or healthy shakes made with low-fat milk and fresh or frozen juice, and sprinkle in some ground flaxseed. In some cases a liquid meal replacement beverage may be recommended. Drink fluids either 30 minutes before or after a meal, not with it, to avoid becoming full before you eat.
Add in calorie-dense snacks. Snack on nuts, peanut butter, cheese, dried fruits and avocados. Have a bedtime snack, such as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or a wrap sandwich with avocado, sliced vegetables, and lean meat or cheese.
Top it off. Add extras to your dishes for more calories — such as cheese in casseroles, soups and scrambled eggs, and nonfat dried milk in stews.
Have a healthy treat. Even when you're underweight, be mindful of excess sugar and fat. Have healthy treats that also provide nutrients, such as bran muffins, yogurt, fruit pies and granola bars.
Exercise. Exercise, especially strength training, can help you gain weight by building up your muscles. Exercise may also stimulate your appetite.

BENEFITS OF DRINKING WATER ON EMPTY STOMACH

~~DRINK WATER ON EMPTY STOMACH~~

It is popular in Japan today to drink water immediately after waking up every morning. Furthermore, scientific tests have proven its value. We publish below a description of
use of water for our readers. For old and serious diseases as well as modern illnesses the water treatment had been found successful by a Japanese medical society as a 100% cure for the following diseases:

Headache, body ache, heart system, arthritis, fast heart beat, epilepsy, excess fatness, bronchitis asthma, TB, meningitis, kidney and urine diseases, vomiting, gastritis, diarrhea, piles, diabetes, constipation, all eye diseases, womb, cancer and menstrual disorders, ear nose and throat diseases.

METHOD OF TREATMENT
1. As you wake up in the morning before brushing teeth, drink 4 x 160ml glasses of water

2. Brush and clean the mouth but do not eat or drink anything for 45 minute

3.. After 45 minutes you may eat and drink as normal.

4. After 15 minutes of breakfast, lunch and dinner do not eat or drink anything for 2 hours

5. Those who are old or sick and are unable to drink 4 glasses of water at the beginning may commence by taking little water and gradually increase it to 4 glasses per day.

6. The above method of treatment will cure diseases of the sick and others can enjoy a healthy life.

The following list gives the number of days of treatment required to cure/control/reduce main diseases:
1. High Blood Pressure (30 days)
2. Gastric (10 days)
3. Diabetes (30 days)
4. Constipation (10 days)
5. Cancer (180 days)
6. TB (90 days)
7. Arthritis patients should follow the above treatment only for 3 days in the 1st week, and from 2nd week onwards – daily..

This treatment method has no side effects, however at the commencement of treatment you may have to urinate a few times.
It is better if we continue this and make this procedure as a routine work in our life. Drink Water and Stay healthy and Active.

This makes sense .. The Chinese and Japanese drink hot tea with their meals not cold water. Maybe it is time we adopt their drinking habit while eating!!! Nothing to lose, everything to gain...

For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you.
It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion.

Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine.
Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

A serious note about heart attacks:

· Women should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting,
· Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line.
· You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack.
· Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms.
· 60% of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up.
· Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know, the better chance we could survive...
A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this mail sends it to everyone they know, you can be sure that we'll save at least one life.

“10000 times stronger killer of CANCER than Chemo”

“10000 times stronger killer of CANCER than Chemo”.. do share it.. can save many lives, fill up hopes and build confidence in the patients…

The Sour Sop or the fruit from the graviola tree is a miraculous natural cancer cell killer 10,000 times stronger than Chemo.

Why are we not aware of this? Its because some big corporation want to make back their money spent on years of research by trying to make a synthetic version of it for sale.

So, since you know it now you can help a friend in need by letting him know or just drink some sour sop juice yourself as prevention from time to time. The taste is not bad after all. It’s completely natural and definitely has no side effects. If you have the space, plant one in your garden. The other parts of the tree are also useful.

The next time you have a fruit juice, ask for a sour sop.

How many people died in vain while this billion-dollar drug maker concealed the secret of the miraculous Graviola tree?

This tree is low and is called graviola ! in Brazi l, guanabana in Spanish and has the uninspiring name “soursop” in English. The fruit is very large and the subacid sweet white pulp is eaten out of hand or, more commonly, used to make fruit drinks, sherbets and such.

The principal interest in this plant is because of its strong anti-cancer effects. Although it is effective for a number of medical conditions, it is its anti tumor effect that is of most interest. This plant is a proven cancer remedy for cancers of all types.

Besides being a cancer remedy, graviola is a broad spectrum antimicrobial agent for both bacterial and fungal infections, is effective against internal parasites and worms, lowers high blood pressure and is used for depression, stress and nervous disorders.

If there ever was a single example that makes it dramatically clear why the existence of Health Sciences Institute is so vital to Americans like you, it’s the incredible story behind the Graviola tree..

The truth is stunningly simple: Deep within the Amazon Rainforest grows a tree that could literally revolutionize what you, your doctor, and the rest of the world thinks about cancer treatment and chances of survival. The future has never looked more promising.

Research shows that with extracts from this miraculous tree it now may be possible to: * Attack cancer safely and effectively with an all-natural therapy that does not cause extreme nausea, weight loss and hair loss * Protect your immune system and avoid deadly infections * Feel stronger and healthier throughout the course of the treatment * Boost your energy and improve your outlook on life

The source of this information is just as stunning: It comes from one of America ‘s largest drug manufacturers, th! e fruit of over 20 laboratory tests conducted since the 1970′s! What those tests revealed was nothing short of mind numbing… Extracts from the tree were shown to:

* Effectively target and kill malignant cells in 12 types of cancer, including colon, prostate, lung and pancreatic cancer.. * The tree compounds proved to be up to 10,000 times stronger in slowing the growth of cancer cells than Adriamycin, a commonly used chemotherapeuti c drug! * What’s more, unlike chemotherapy, the compound extracted from the Graviola tree selectivelyhunts down and kills only cancer cells.. It does not harm healthy cells!

The amazing anti-cancer properties of the Graviola tree have been extensively researched–so why haven’t you heard anything about it? If Graviola extract is

One of America ‘s biggest billion-dollar drug makers began a search for a cancer cure and their research centered on Graviola, a legendary healing tree from the Amazon Rainforest.

Various parts of the Graviola tree–including the bark, leaves, roots, fruit and fruit-seeds–have been used for centuries by medicine men and native Indi! ans in S outh America to treat heart disease, asthma, liver problems and arthritis. Going on very little documented scientific evidence, the company poured money and resources into testing the tree’s anti-cancerous properties–and were shocked by the results. Graviola proved itself to be a cancer-killing dynamo. But that’s where the Graviola story nearly ended.

The company had one huge problem with the Graviola tree–it’s completely natural, and so, under federal law, not patentable. There’s no way to make serious profits from it.

It turns out the drug company invested nearly seven years trying to synthesize two of the Graviola tree’s most powerful anti-cancer ingredients. If they could isolate and produce man-made clones of what makes the Graviola so potent, they’d be able to patent it and make their money back. Alas, they hit a brick wall. The original simply could not be replicated. There was no way the company could protect its profits–or even make back the millions it poured into research.

As the dream of huge profits evaporated, their testing on Graviola came to a screeching halt. Even worse, the company shelved the entire project and chose not to publish the findings of its research!

Luckily, however, there was one scientist from the Graviola research team whose conscience wouldn’t let him see such atrocity committed. Risking his career, he contacted a company that’s dedicated to harvesting medical plants from the Amazon Rainforest and blew the whistle.

Miracle unleashed When researchers at the Health Sciences Institute were alerted to the news of Graviola,! they be gan tracking the research done on the cancer-killing tree. Evidence of the astounding effectiveness of Graviola–and its shocking cover-up–came in fast and furious….

….The National Cancer Institute performed the first scientific research in 1976. The results showed that Graviola’s “leaves and stems were found effective in attacking and destroying malignant cells.” Inexplicably, the results were published in an internal report and never released to the public…

….Since 1976, Graviola has proven to be an immensely potent cancer killer in 20 independent laboratory tests, yet no double-blind clinical trials–the typical benchmark mainstream doctors and journals use to judge a treatment’s value–were ever initiated….

….A study published in the Journal of Natural Products, following a recent study conducted at Catholic University of South Korea stated that one chemical in Graviola was found to selectively kill colon cancer cells at “10,000 times the potency of (the commonly used chemotherapy drug) Adriamycin…”

….The most significant part of the Catholic University of South Korea report is that Graviola was shown to selectively target the cancer cells, leaving healthy cells untouched. Unlike chemotherapy, which indiscriminately targets all actively reproducing cells (such as stomach and hair cells), causing the often devastating side effects of nausea and hair loss in cancer patients.

Injury, Assault & Hurt differences at a glance

What is injury, assault and hurt in medicolegal cases as per Indian penal code?

The words injury, assault and hurt are invariably used by doctors in hospital practice. Though used as synonymous, all these three words have different meaning in law. They are defined by Indian penal code as below: Injury: Section 44 IPC defines injury as any harm whatever illegally caused to any person in body, mind, reputation or property. Assault: Section 351 IPC defines assault as threat or attempt to apply force on the body of another in a hostile manner. It may be a common/simple assault or an intention to murder. Hurt: Section 319 IPC defines hurt as ‘whoever causes bodily pain, disease or infirmity to any person is said to cause hurt.’

As doctors we deal with cases of hurt/body injury mean bodily pain, wound, disease or infirmity voluntarily caused to any person in medico–legal cases. These include abrasion, contusion, laceration, stab wound, electric shock, fire arm or ligatures etc resulting in human body injury.

The doctor who is certifying an injury report should keep in mind the Penal provision which is required by police to book the case as follows:

Simple injury: Section 323 of IPC

Simple injury caused by dangerous weapons: Section 324 of IPC

Grievous injury: Section 325 of IPC

Grievous injury caused by dangerous weapons: Section 326 of IPC

Dangerous injury: Section 307 IPC

Injury likely to cause death: Section 304 of IPC

Injury sufficient to cause death: Section 302 IPC

Causing hurt by means of poison: Section 328 of IPC

Rules for Good Health

Good health is wealth. Here’s a refresh on the rules of good health.

Rule 1: Every morning, say one positive thing about yourself to yourself. This sets the tone for the day, and a day begun well is most likely to go well. Positive
messages to yourself help you improve your self-esteem. For example, a positive reaffirmation can be, “I am a kind person, so today I am going to be kind no matter what.”

Rule 2: Begin the day with two glasses of plain water and try and replace at least 50 per cent of your favourite caffeinated beverages with green tea. By switching to green tea, you get mega doses of antioxidants which are good for the heart and skin. Green tea is also easy on the stomach and the absence of caffeine keeps you calm. Also fulfill your hydration requirements by consuming soups and vegetable juices.

Rule 3: Eat a meal of sprouts every second day. They are a powerhouse of good health, good for losing weight, protecting the liver and enhancing the glow on your face. Sprouts can be made of alfalfa seeds, mung, lobhia and black channa.

Rule 4: Sleep well for at least six to eight hours a night. Sleep is like medicine for the mind and body. Sleep deprivation results in premature ageing, irritability and a short temper.

Rule 5: The total elimination of fast foods, ready to eat foods and packet foods may not be possible. But resolve to limit your consumption of these foods to just three meals a week. Such moderation will be helpful in the long run.

Rule 6: Replace 50 per cent of your flour-based food with whole grain-based food (such as dalia, unpolished rice, poha or dal with chilka). You get more minerals, protection against cancer and greater weight loss.

Rule 7: Drink alcohol in moderation( if taking), and gradually shift from potent liquor to fine wines. The maximum permissible level for health is two glasses of wine a day.

Rule 8: Exercise to destress and to tone your body. You should exercise not only for weight loss, but also to develop strong knees.

Rule 9: Laughter remains the best medicine.

Rule 10: Say your prayers and express your gratitude every day. Prayers can heal and correct every hurdle in life.
